Hi, My name is William Wood. I live in Utah and, since 2008, I specialize in helping people create powerful personal changes through hypnosis.


Since then, I have worked with more than 6,500 individuals and have taught hypnosis all over North and South America. In that time, I have performed more than 18,000 hypnosis sessions and have helped people reach their goals and dreams.

w I Got Interested In Hypnosis…


In 2005, I started studying the work of Master Hypnotist Milton Erickson. I first found Erickson’s work while searching for ways to decrease my own daily debilitating headaches.


Hypnosis worked and it changed my life.


Erickson’s work has had a huge impact on every area of my life and goals.


My study of Milton Erickson’s work led me to study hypnosis as a tool to help people achieve their goals.

In 2008, I formally began studying hypnosis through the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI), America’s first nationally accredited College of Hypnotherapy, where I received a diploma in hypnotherapy.

Subsequently, I received additional training and certifications through the American Hypnosis Association, The National Guild of Hypnotists, The American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), the Hypnosis Practitioner Training Institute and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (R)

I have also done extensive training around the health applications of NLP and hypnosis with Tim Hallbom, Suzi Smith and Robert Dilts at the NLP Institute of California, one of the most respected and innovative NLP institutes in the country.


I have done extensive training in a variety of hypnotic and non-hypnotic, rapid-change modalities. I am widely considered to be a hypnosis expert. I am also a Certified Master Practitioner and Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming, and currently train for the NLP Institute of California.

Additionally, I have completed advanced trainings in the medical and dental applications of hypnosis, contextual hypnotherapy (the application of third-wave, cognitive-behavioral approaches to hypnosis), Time Based Emotional Release Techniques, guided imagery, habit control, smoking cessation, weight management, goal achievement, sports performance, test-taking anxiety, stress relief, general self improvement and fear-release techniques.

I am the co-author of the book “Change: A Little Book for Lasting Freedom,” which talks about practical strategies for long-term emotional freedom. I am currently authoring another book on goal achievement and values.

In 2015, I started developing and rolling out NLP and hypnosis certification programs in two Universities in Peru. La Universidad Ricardo Palma and La Universidad Cesar Vallejo. I continue to travel to Peru regularly to teach hypnotherapy and NLP.


Since 2014, I have been a regular contributor to the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association Magazine: Unlimited Human.

7 Vision Board Ideas To Harness the Law of Attraction



Learn the key concepts that will help you leverage the power of vision boards to create success in your subconscious programming.


Picture your goal. Is it a nice house? A Ferrari? A successful business? Backpacking through Nepal? Picturing it in your head is nice, sure, but let’s take the next step so you can see these images with your own two eyes. To do that right, you want a vision board.


Why a vision board?

Sometimes, visualizing your goals can feel kind of abstract and nebulous. When you activate the visual centers of the brain, you’re also activating the manifestation capabilities of your subconscious mind. A large portion of your neocortex is actually dedicated to seeing and to making images, so today we’re going to harness that capability to turn visions into reality. A vision board, a place to put these images so they’re always in your face and aspiring you to reach for them, will do that.


But where do you start?


#1: Define your space

If it’s too small, your vision board won’t have the room for your mind to explore. Too big, and you may get lost in the space. I prefer a 3’ x 2’ corkboard you can pick up at Staples or Office Depot (along with a couple dozen pushpins). That’s the ideal size for focusing on just the images that need your attention, and pushing everything else to the peripherals of your vision.


#2: Limit your images

Don’t overload your brain. Three images on your board are enough if you want to actually get what’s on your vision board (five images is stretching it). If you overdo it, you’ll get overwhelmed, which is the opposite of why you put up the board to begin with: You want it to inspire.


Picture your goal. Is it a nice house? A Ferrari? A successful business? Backpacking through Nepal? Picturing it in your head is nice, sure, but let’s take the next step so you can see these images with your own two eyes. To do that right, you want a vision board.


#3: Put it someplace visible

If it’s not in your range of vision, it’s not much of a vision board, is it? Mine is hanging on my bedroom wall. A client once put his in the back of his closet. Guess which one is probably more effective?


#4: Take a picture

The real thing may be 3’ x 2’, but you can fit it in your pocket by taking a snapshot with your phone. Bring it with you everywhere you go, and take it out and gaze at it sometimes when you’re away, stuck in traffic, or waiting in line at the supermarket. Whether you’re at home, at work, or just out and about, it’s never more than an arm’s length away.


#5: 3-5 minutes

You need to look at it long enough for your mind to relax. Give time for the negative voices in your brain to dissipate, so that all that’s left are the good vibes that your vision board brings. Stare at the images on your vision board until the negative mind chatter relaxes for at least one minute.


#6: Meditate

First, what meditation is not: You do not need to sit in an uncomfortable position on top of a mountain contemplating the sound of one hand clapping. I mean, you can; you just don’t need to.


What meditation is: Take the time to prepare yourself for the creative act. Learn a technique to help calm your mind. The technique can vary, so find one that works for you. Once your mind is quiet and completely still, it is fertile ground for powerful creation. I like to meditate for a few minutes to clear my mind before I look at my vision board.


#7: Capture your negative thoughts

When you begin looking at the vision board, you want to clear negative thoughts from your head. But identify them as you’re kicking them to the curb so you know what those thoughts are. This is how you learn to keep these squatters from taking up residency in your mind to begin with.


Negative thoughts are the most common struggle people deal with regarding their vision boards. These feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt and general pessimism can stand in the way of your goals if you let them. Hi, my name is William Wood and today I’m going to be sharing with you a seven vision board ideas that I used to get more than forty goals in a single calendar year.


So let’s get real: why would you want to set up a vision board in the first place. One of the reasons why most of my clients want to set up a vision board is to activate the visual centers of the brain. A large portion of your neocortex is actually dedicated to seeing and to making images. That means that you can activate the manifestation capabilities of your subconscious mind by visualizing.


Idea number one. So the first thing you want to do is define your space. Defining your space means that there is a border around the area that you’re going to be actively visualizing. You can think of that as a way of telling the brain ‘this is what I want to create’. What I do is go down to office depot, I buy a cork board that’s about three feet wide and two feet tall, it’s exactly what I have on my bedroom wall right now today, and I use pushpin’s. This is a way for me to easily place images in front of my eyes and my subconscious mind that allow me to focus and create exactly what I want to create. You don’t want to make your vision board so bag that you can’t see it all at once. But, don’t do that. The way I think about it, while I’m staring at one image, I want to be able to see every other image out of my peripheral vision, a way of telling my brain this is my kingdom.


Idea number two. You only really want about three images on your vision board. If your new vision to vision boards, especially, the brain does not do well, if you give it too many options, if you want to actually get what’s on your vision board, you should probably limit it to no more than three images.


Almost everyone who teaches vision boards teaches that you put everything that your heart’s ever desired on that vision board. While that may work for someone, most people actually start generating feelings of overwhelm when they look at their vision board. And the feeling that you create is absolutely key in getting what you want. So if you want to overwhelm, put lots of images on your vision board. But if you want to get what’s on your vision board, if you want to manifest it in your own life, three images, no more than five.


Number three. So the whole point of a vision board is to be able to see it. If you can’t see it what’s the point? So one time I had a client who put his vision board in the back of his closet, behind all of his business suits. So that if you ever actually want to see is a vision board he would have to go into the closet, scooch the clothes over to either side and spend a few minutes staring. I wonder if that worked.


Number four. So one of my ninja hacks is to take a cell phone picture and carry it with you so that if you want to stare at your vision board throughout the day you don’t have to wait until you’re at home or at the office or wherever your vision board happens to be.


Number five. Vision boards works because you spend dedicated time, focusing in your mind and your emotions on what you want. I found that in general, the best amount of time to focus on the vision board is somewhere between three and five minutes. Some of you are wondering how I come up with that number of three to five minutes. You want to look at the vision board long enough that your mind relax. It’s not an uncommon thing for you to get a little stressed out if you’re looking at something that’s real bad. So to solve that one of the things that you do is you stare at the images on your vision board until the negative mind chatter relaxes for at least one minute. That means that if you’re looking at a vision board only long enough that your brain is delivering negative self talk, how do you think you are, you may not be manifesting what you want, you may actually be manifesting the very thing that that negative dialogue is sending to you.


Number six. Meditation doesn’t mean sitting in some uncomfortable position on the top of a mountain, meditation means taking the time to prepare your mind for the creative act. So what that means is learning a technique to help you quiet and still in mind. I have other videos about meditation, if you’re interested in learning a little bit more. But what I do is, I meditate for a few minutes and then when my mind is completely still, I look at my vision board. When the mind is quiet, it is fertile ground for powerful creation.


Number 7. One of the benefits of having a vision board is actually that the vision board reveals to you your stinking thinking. Oh, now you might wonder why is that a benefit. I mean isn’t this about positive thinking. Isn’t this about manifesting your greatest desires. This is one of the least talked about uses of a vision board. Vision boards will literally tell you what thoughts, what emotions and what beliefs you need to change, if you’re paying attention. So for the first few seconds to minutes that you’re looking at the vision board before your mind chatter calms down, if negative thoughts arise, and they get a feelings arise, your vision board is literally teaching you what beliefs you need to change. When you change those beliefs, nothing stands in your way and creation is just around the corner.


What most people struggle with, with their vision board, as they struggle with their own negative thinking. You can visualize with negative thoughts and feelings and what you visualize will never come true. Hypnotic Depth and Deepeners at Northern Utah Hypnosis Center

There is much debate in the hypnotherapy world about whether or not there are different “levels” of trance that are important in therapy.  Many people are convinced that trance depth has no relevance in therapeutic hypnosis.  I think that most of the time for most people this is probably true, as it seems that the most profound personal changes can often be made in the lightest stages of trance.  When people identify levels of trance depth, they are describing different levels of mental relaxation and trying to categorize different hypnotic phenomenon to those different stages of trance.


There are different scales of trance, but I have found Dave Elman’s description of trance levels to be the most useful for my purposes:

  1. Waking suggestion: suggestion given in a waking state.  Most NLP and Time Line Therapy® Techniques make use of waking suggestion.
  2. Light Trance: this applies to everything less “deep” than somnambulism, which is usually thought to be a fairly deep trance state.
  3. Somnambulism: this is a medium to deep trance state, which is useful in regression therapies and parts therapy (AKA ego states therapy).
  4. The Esdaile State: this is a VERY deep trance state that is used with hypnotic childbirth techniques and in some other medical and dental applications of hypnosis.
  5. What Dave Elman called “Hypnosis attached to sleep.”

If I determine with my client that greater hypnotic depth is necessary, such as for hypnotic regression or parts therapy, we might use a deepener technique, such as a suggestion, fractionation (repeated induction), or by embedded metaphor.

What Is The Energy Meridian System And How Can It Help You?


The energy meridian system is a system of 14 major energy pathways that flow through the body…

(and another five that are beyond the scope of this article.)

Eleven of these energy pathways relate to the body’s organs:

  1. The Bladder
  2. The Gall Bladder
  3. The Stomach
  4. The Kidney
  5. The Liver
  6. The Spleen
  7. The Lungs
  8. The Large Intestine
  9. The Pericardium
  10. The Heart
  11. The Small Intestine

Three of these energy pathways act as energy reservoirs:

When You Are All Blocked Up…



When things are working right, thought and emotional energy naturally flow through these energy lines.


Sometimes things don’t work right.

When they don’t, thought energy or emotional energy stops flowing correctly through these lines.  Energy disruptions can form in the energy pathways related to the body’s organs, tissues or around the body in a subtle energy fields that I call “Thought Energy Fields” or “Emotion Energy Fields.”

When a thought or emotion energy field get stuck in or around the body, energy stops flowing there naturally.

…I am not saying that you should use energy healing alone to heal your physical or psychological problems.

Energy healing is an adjunct to proper medical or psychological care.

In fact, energy healing can’t heal you.

Nope.

Neither can I.

Your own body is built to heal itself when it is in energetic balance.

Your own mind is built to heal itself when it is in energetic balance.

And Your higher power can heal you.

Neither can any other form of energy healing.

A body and mind in balance cooperates and unleashes its own healing abilities.

“I Got HOOKED on Smoking When I Was Just Eight Years Old…”


I will never forget sitting down in the office with a 42-year old woman.  She had literally tried to quit smoking almost a hundred times in a decade.

I was shocked when I heard it, but her story was true: “I got HOOKED on smoking when I was just eight years old. I started swiping cigarettes from my mom and dad. She Gained 93 Pounds… Spending More Than $10,000 on Diets!

A 43-year-old woman came into my office mad at her doctor because he was cruel, but deep down she was more disappointed in herself. She weighed 93 pounds more than she should.

She had just gotten back from a doctor’s appointment and was still crying.  “You are obese,” her doctor had told her bluntly

How did she gain all the weight?

Her answer: 12 diets and $10,000 in the last 18 months paying for the latest supplements.

In fact she told me that she had averaged 8 pounds gained for every diet she successfully completed.

Does that sound familiar?

You go on a diet, lose 10 lbs, and then gain 15 pounds back within six months of stopping the diet…

The “Solution” Is Part of The Problem…

“Fad diets” are everywhere and have been for years, but do they really work? Studies have shown that not only are these diets ineffective for weight loss Utah, they might actually be dangerous for your health…

And almost nobody is telling the truth about these diets

Once or twice a year the paper touts a new ‘magic diet formula’ that will make you lose ten pounds in a month, or maybe even a week. “After all, the latest movie star did it and she looks great,” the girls at work claim.

“Eat this, but don’t eat that and the pounds will just melt away from your body,” the diet boldly announces.

The diets seem simple, even logical, at least on paper. So, why exactly don’t these diets work?

They do not work because your diet is not the problem! (I will talk more about this in a few minutes.)

And…

Many diets are simply unsustainable in the long run — meaning, no normal human being would actually want to stay on the diet for more than a few weeks at a time.

That means that failure is built into the system.

Not a good plan.

A Simple Test for Long-Term Results:

During my career as a hypnotherapist, I have coached thousands of clients, and, as of 2018, have performed more than 18,000 hypnosis sessions helping my clients to make lifestyle changes and reach their goals.

The number one question I teach my clients to ask themselves is this: can you maintain this behavior change for the next five to ten years?

“If not, don’t start,” I say.

“If you can only do it short-term, then you will likely gain weight in the long run.”

Most people go on these diets to lose the weight, but after the diet is over they go right back to their unhealthy eating habits. You know the rest of the story…

…Disappointment, followed by weight gain.

The dangerous aspect of these fad diets is that many of them require dieters to starve or limit themselves so severely that after weeks of deprivation, they would be dieters have the tendency to start binge eating.

The most common response to binging is to start the deprivation cycle again. This cycle of deprivation and binge eating can lead to eating disorders. In fact, studies have shown that people who go on diets are eight times more likely than others to develop eating disorders.

Fad diets also often deprive your body of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

The secret to permanent weight loss is actually very simple, but that doesn’t make it easy: eat the right foods in the right amounts and move your body more often.

That Is Easier To Say Than To Do… Unless…

That is easier to say than to do UNLESS you are using hypnosis.

Give me a minute to explain.

A few years back, the New England Journal of Medicine compared major diets of the day for results.  After 6 months, no diet worked better than any other diet!

They all worked!

In fact, the number one predictor of long term weight loss was the ability of the individual to stay with the diet long term.

So…

The problem was not the diet!  All reasonable and sustainable eating plans work.  The real problem then, came down to this one question: Can YOU stay on the plan you start?

For example…

I had a doctor once tell me once, “Weight loss is nothing more than pure physics! You need to burn more energy than you consume.”

I thought it was interesting that the doctor was almost 75 Lbs overweight himself.  He understood the physics of weight loss Utah, but he clearly had not mastered the practical psychology behind his own ideal weight–a problem many people can identify with!

This doctor consciously knew HOW to lose weight, but the truth of losing weight had not moved itself from his head into his deep subconscious mind.  This is the most common situation that I find with my clients: it takes more than just conscious head knowledge of WHAT to do, in order to get results.
